What is Palliative Care at home?

Palliative care is sometimes called “supportive care” it is provided to those living with a terminal illness. Although it can include end of life care, palliative care is much boarder and can last for longer, for example some have palliative care for years. For those with a life-threatening illness, being at home within familiar surroundings, having the opportunity to be close to family, friends and pets and enjoying favourite meals can provide contentment and happiness at the time you need it most.

What is the difference between end-of-life and palliative care?

End of life is for care and support for those who are in the last few months or years of their life or if their treatment hasn’t worked. End of life carers ensure loved ones enjoy the highest quality care, support, and spend their remaining days living with dignity all in the comfort of their own home. They may receive palliative care before this over many months, but they are likely to need the most care as they are approaching their remaining time.
